Joanna and Trevor Get Married!

We shot the wedding of Joanna and Trevor last weekend. What a blast. I had a great time with this couple during the engagement session but I had no idea how fun and crazy their parents were.

They had the ceremony and reception at the Creek Club at I'on in Mount Pleasant. Live entertainment was provided by The Bluestone Ramblers, a bluegrass acoustic swing band. Day-of coordination services was handled by Emmy Brooks of Peacock Events.

The weather was so perfect. It was cool and breezy and slightly overcast. Overcast days are what I love to shoot in because of the quality of light.

Joanna and Trevor will spend their honeymoon touring the state of California. Congrats you guys!

Meg and Matt get married!

Meg and Matt's family vacationed every year on Edisto Island. Thats where they met and fell in love. So it was fitting that they get married there where they met. The ceremony and reception was held at Cypress Trees Plantation on Edisto Island and what a beautiful day they had. The night was a classic southern evening with spanish moss draped oaks and a full moon.

This wonderful couple had the biggest wedding party numbering 27 in all! We had a hard time keeping track of everyone! They were extremely cool and awesome to hang out with.

Boy, talk about threading a needle! Nancy and Mike's wedding happened one day after Tropical Storm Hanna left the Charleston area and man were we sweatin it the week before.

It turned out great! Charleston suffered no damage from the storm and the day was sunny and beautiful.

The ceremony was at ST. Mary of the Annunciation in Charleston and the reception was held at the historic Rice Mill Building on the Charleston Harbor.

Emmy Brooks of Peacock Events handled the coordination and DJ Luigi took MC duties for a Miami themed event.

We had a great time with the couple and their family and friends.

Charleston Iron

I was on a holding pattern yesterday afternoon in town so I used my waiting time to focus on a certain aspect of our beautiful city. I took a walk down Legare Street and through the Battery and just focused on the wrought iron that's all over the place here. I was on a photo assignment for a local architect and had to shoot a structure in afternoon light and again in the dark. I had 2 hours between shoots so I walked around town. The light was lovely yesterday afternoon. You can see the full set here. www.redshutterstudio.com/chasiron/

Courtney and Ryan get married

We just got back from Seattle. We were there to shoot a very special wedding. This is my oldest son and his new wife. They are true progressive Seattle couple. Despite the tough-guy image with the mohawk, piercings and tattoos, this is the sweetest and most affectionate of all my kids. These two have been together a long time and have gone through a lot of rough times but they act as if they just met yesterday. Their love is strong and that is something I love to see. Congrats you guys! I just scored the sweetest of daughter-in-laws!

Rock Band

I shot some promotional photos of a young heavy metal/progressive rock band in the Seattle area recently. These guys are all under 17 and they are a very talented group of young men and are working on releasing their second album. This is the band during a practice session in a small dark garage. Instead of having them pose, I just told them to play and I shot them as candids. I did pose them for their group photo.

Angela and Shawn-8 Months

We got to see our November 2007 wedding couple again to shoot their maternity photos. Me and Tara were stoked to see Angela and Shawn again. We get to know our couples so well before their wedding and to see them again is so great especially for special events like this. We were there for the beginning of their family and now their baby is on her way. Angela is 8 months along and looks great. Shawn looks exactly the same. I shot the session in their home and we kept everything very simple. I was going for an ethereal look to the images- almost abstract. After the shoot we all went out to Oscars in Summerville for dinner and closed the place down. We had a great time cathing up with them in the time since their wedding.

This is our plan with our couples. To hopefully be a part of their family and record their special events in life. The wedding is just the start.

Sara and Shawn Engagement

We met up with Sara and Shawn downtown at the Pineapple Fountain where he proposed to shoot some engagement shots. These two were very relaxed and self-directed so that made everything go so much faster.

It's a good thing too because we got rained out but were able to get the city shots done. We were supposed to spend time at the beach also, but a big electrical storm came and nixed all that.

We'll meet up again to finish this up at Folly Beach so stay tuned!

Arizona! [personal]

I loved the deserts of Arizona. While we were there, I got to wander the land of legends, the desert canyons and mountains and get some photos for me. {SEE THE PHOTOS HERE}

Arizona! [commercial]

What an awesome opportunity to back to Arizona! We were tasked to shoot the hospital in Sierra Vista in the Southeast corner of this magnificent state. Here is where my daighter was born and where we left a lot of great friends. We added a few days onto the trip to visit with our old friends and we did a lot of catching up. Sometimes work takes us to wonderful places.
