Spring has sprung and what an awesome time to shoot portraits downtown in Charleston. Our lovely couple Amanda and John made a trip down from Greenville for their pre-wedding engagement shoot Saturday afternoon. The brought their pup Lady with them to be included in a couple of the shots. After Lady was done, they placed her in her carry bag and I strapped her on to my back while I photographed her "parents". Amanda was a bit nervous and a mojito helped calm he nerves before we began shooting. John was a natural and they looked very relaxed in front of the lens even with a very crowded venue. We shot the session near the Charleston Battery in and around some of the historic homes. We will be covering their wedding at Middleton Plantation in May of this year. Great job you guys! Glad you guys had fun.
On assignment for the Charleston Visitors Bureau. What an awesome time of year! Weather is perfect and the sky hasn't turned that hazy shade of white that the summer heat and humidity brings. These were shot at almost mid-day and the light was still good. I wish it could stay like this...
Another photo session with Jessie, who is racking up miles on her frequent portrait card. Our Jessie is graduating from the College of Charleston this year. We shot the session at the College of Charleston which is a photo-ready campus. The place looks like a movie set!
Whenever we shoot Jessie, I insist on having her dad, Dr. Bob present. He is awesome and we love his company. He doesnt mind mind tagging along helping me badger his daughter while we shoot. Lots of fun with these guys!
March 1st photo shoots
We spent the end of last week in southern South Carolina and Northern Georgia on a couple photo assignments. We started out in Bluffton shooting a beautiful new housing development in Hampton Lakes. Welden Fields had us shooting the interiors of their Villas and Carriage homes. These homes are located in Hampton Lakes and the whole community is gorgeous with an amenities center that makes you feel like your on vacation. We are also designing their website.
On Friday night after the Welden Field shoot, we went to dinner at Carraba's on Hilton Head with Tara's Dad and Miss Eileen. Kate spent Friday afternoon with them and would be hanging out with them all day on Saturday for the wedding we shot in Guyton, Georgia. Kate was so excited to see her grandparents (she calls them E-Pa and E-Ma) that she didnt take a nap that day so she slept the whole time during dinner with her head in Tara's lap and her feet on mine. We had a booth so it worked out great. It was like we had a sitter for dinner. It's so much more relaxing having dinner when she sleeps through it. Have you ever had dinner and tried to carry on a conversation with your two year old present?
The next day, we were up early to head to Georgia to catch our bride and her maids getting ready. Raven and Kelvin are from the coastal Georgia area. These guys were so young and sweet and so in love. Sure know how to make a guy feel old! We were the only pros that worked the wedding. The cake was done by Kelvin's mother, the ceremony design and coordination was done by a family friend as well as the girl's hair. Despite not doing these services as pros, you wouldn't have been able to tell. The hairstyling was superb, the cake was beautiful and Kim, the coordinator completely transformed the church and reception hall. What an amazing job they all did! The service was officiated by a family friend and he did an awesome job. Raven and Kelvin had a lot of built-in talent for the big day. The family was a great bunch and we thoroughly enjoyed spending the day with all of them.
The next morning I was jolted awake by a creepy dream so since I was up, I decided to sneak out and stroll around Palmetto Bluff at sun-up. Palmetto Bluff is a few minutes from Bluffton proper and is a stunning place to just be in. Everything about Palmetto Bluff is well planned and executed perfectly. From maintaining the natural surroundings to the stunning homes and amenities on the property. Since I am normally nocturnal, I have never had the opportunity to stroll around in the morning. I have been there many times in the afternoon and evenings, but mornings there are particularly beautiful. The sun comes up over the May River and really bathes the place in gorgeous light. And I like to be in places with gorgeous light with camera in hand. So with a unused film card, I shot a few of my favorite places in Palmetto Bluff that morning.
I made it back in time fr breakfast where E-Pa and E-Ma served pancakes with birthday candles for me and Tara. Our birthdays are a few days apart this month. We blew out our candles, I had help with mine from Katie, and opened birthday presents.
Another wonderful weekend doing what we do. I wont call it work. That wouldn't be right because we enjoy it too much.
